What if.. JK Wrangler

Post by JoshBailey » September 11th, 2012, 8:50 pm

What if everything went okay? Nedry was fired before his mission to undermine Ingen could even be attempted, and the visitors signed off on the island. The JP Jeep would one day be updated, spared no expense. This is the approach for my 2008 JK Sahara Edition Jeep Wrangler.
This car was bought in '08 brand new, and now four years later only has 27,000 miles on it, and no visual wear. It's too beautiful too give up, and in keeping it and going with this approach, I have the freedom to do almost anything. Of course, It will be painted Sand Beige, with red stripes, and the traditional decals, and number stencils. Number 46, after the year Spielberg was born.
I still remember the very first time I watched Jurassic Park, and the impact it had on me. I've wanted to do this for almost all of my life. Now, I finally have the opportunity.
Stay tuned for updates soon, and any help is greatly appreciated. Having this website and so many dedicated fans posting resources is already more than enough help for me.
Thank you guys so much,
Josh.

Sounds like a fun project! Make sure everything about it is a conscious decision, having the incorrect sizes (stripes, emblems and numbers) can really throw off JP jeep.

So considering hauling kids and gear, I was considering doing the JK 4 door myself at one point....

But I do like the little jeep, so I ended up going with the yj, and am attempting to be as close to screen accurate as possible...

Here is a mock up I did of a JK 4 door.. (i changed the number to 46 for you, excuse the crappy incorrect font numbers)

SO the panel lines are very different from the yj/tj. I choose to align the strips with the windshield angle like the original paint job, which means there is very little offset at the front for the horizontal section. And the back stripe needs to be the same angle as the front, but the back wheel flares are quite a bit different angle than the windshield,, so it doesn't look quite as clean as the original. but I think it still looks pretty good.

Not sure why people insist on taking the rear stripe all the way to the roof. Just paint the hard top spice....

Thank you for pointing that out about the stripes! I have a two door wrangler Sahara, blue, with a black soft top. So I will be changing the top to tan, or as close as I can get to tan. It's hard to find tan aftermarket tops for JK's
What do you guys recommend for the sand beige base, doing it yourself, or forking over a grand? Is DIY quality worth the effort? (and take into account, im in the blistering Florida sun.)

Quadratec's quadratop comes in Grey, Black, Spice, Dark Tan, and Black Diamond... but not sure which colors are for which years.... as the website only shows 2 options for the jk's but didn't list what those colors were.:(

You can get a soft top for the JK, I don't know why you couldn't just get a custom one in spice if it's not offered by anyone.

Here's a 2-door my buddy made for Forza, it has a black top, but you have no options in the game.

I would imagine a professional job would be relative inexpensive for a new JK given the fact that there is no rust or bodywork to be done - simply disassemble, scuff, and paint.
