Re: Oklahoma City #42

They were both 2 days ago. My friend went out to grab something out of the Jeep, and she came back and said that she couldn't open either of the doors. I went out and she showed me what she did. Apparently, she turned the key to unlock it, and then pulled the door handle before she returned the key to the neutral position (of course she does this to BOTH DOORS!) My guess is that the connecting piece between the opening mechanism and the rods is either broken, or has come off. Could this have happened, or am I way off? Also, any idea how to get the door panels off without opening the doors?

The full doors that I had for my Jeep would stick like that if I locked them...EVERY TIME I locked them. It was fine after I got them unlocked but getting them to let go was a real pain. What I did was spray it full of WD40 and keep messing with the key until it let go. I never took the time find out what was wrong for sure I just never locked them.

Besides making sure the locks actually work, I've never actually locked the doors to my Jeep once since owning it. :)

I better lock my doors, getting tired of spiders and spiderwebs in my topless Jeep. :P

The mechanism is pretty basic so its not a huge problem...if that's the worst thing you're fine :)

So here's a quick update. I got the doors open. I had to remove the panels with the doors closed... it was not easy and took a while, but I got the doors open. Once I lubricated all of the mechanisms & pieces, I put everything back together. Works perfectly now. Also, I picked up a few things like an antenna and mount, bumper ends, & a tailgate bar. I had the engine tuned and the transmission rebuilt. Now, it drives and shifts like a dream!

Hello everyone, my Jeep does not currently have the correct wheels, and I've been searching in my area for them, but to no avail. I came across this set in near perfect condition with brand new tires already on. I know that the tires aren't "correct," but I'm not worried about that as I will not be able to paint my Jeep until string at the earliest (getting the transmission rebuilt set me back further than I thought it would). The price on a set of 5 rims with new tires is is $600. I may try to talk him down to $500. Is $500 a decent price? Should I wait? Also, I can probably sell my current wheels and tires for around $200 at the least. Thoughts? I honestly have no idea what a good price on something like this would be. :? PLEASE HELP!

Looks like that set comes with the matching spare as well. I just spent nearly $700 on a new set of the cheapest tires I could find, without getting the spare replaced. That price was just the tires.

Those MT's probably go for over $200 each new, plus the 5 wheels and other spare makes that look like a pretty good deal to me. It can't hurt to haggle, but it's probably fair at $595.

I can't speak to the ride quality, but that may or may not matter to you...

$600 I think is a good price with rims. I was lucky to get mine with new BF Goodrichs on there so I'm not sure on the cost of those new but its HIGH!
You can always sell these on once you find the correct ones, or honestly leave them on if you're not 'that' fussed.
