Wheels turned out real nice! Start wetsanding that red, though! It sticks out like a sore thumb! The antenna clip is pretty clever!

is that the photo or is that red way off? it looks almost pink. Did you use the same color you did your wheels in, that red looks good. The red should be a closer match to your door decals.

Kevin: I'm not experienced in wet sanding, is it okay to do it if I just have 3 coats of paint and no clear? What grit should I use?

And jack you are correct, wheels don't exactly match the paint as they are powdercoated. Finding satin red spray cans was surprisingly hard to find. There were only two shades of red in satin I could find. I should have done a gloss, then used a flat or satin clear coat. This is only supposed to hold me until I scrounge up money for a better paint job.

I like your build, you have a good jeep, mine is still comming along, and like everyone else here my progress is a bit slow due to cash, I'm the only one working, though when my wife starts her job at the hospital I will have more money to allocate twords the jeep. Which right now I'm working on the engine and electrical systems, but most of it is sorted out, I just need to replace a few odds and ends, connect a few lose vaccume hoses and then do a few adjustments on the battery platform, and then it should be good, then the gauges and dash board, that has has a number done on it, I did a list I'm looking at a good deal of work, but my wife did get it for me as a present so I wouldn't trade it for the world.

here is a way you can fix that up, go to your local Napa dealer( if there is one in your area) by a pint of the correct red, raident fire #4279 and have them put it into spray cans for you. It costs like 5 bucks a can and i think i got 5 or six cans out of a pint of red. I used these to test the color on my wheels and mirrors. That way you could do it on the cheap and get the red closer to what you need
Hope this helps

How much would it cost for a gallon of it?

let me clarify, the pint cost around 20 dollars, then they charged me $5 and change per can and i said use up as much of the pint as they could get into cans. My total with the cost of the pint of paint was over $50 something, i don't quite remember since it was like August last year. The red was a bit glossier than what i wanted but you can top it with satin clear, it still was not a true gloss so it would be ok

I gallon would be the cost of a gallon of red plus $5 per can, i would think you could get 40 plus cans out of a gallon of paint, so $200 dollars or more just to have them put into cans and around $150 maybe for a gallon of red

Thanks Jack, the red on yours looks very nice, I'll be sure to use that color code when the jeep gets repainted.

Dude- nice!
I'm reading/researching as much as I can here...
SO your '92 has obviously been repainted, and if my eyes and monitor are right, it looks to be done in TJ 'Desert Sand Pearlcoat'.
Which is nice to see, since I may find a TJ for a base vehicle.

Any progress on the build?

My '92 was originally the right color, so the interior and engine bay are already the correct color, but the outside is indeed some "gold" color.
Most of my updates are posted on facebook, but I did receive some KC amber fog lights yesterday (not accurate, but close). I installed them that very night in the dark. I am now researching solutions for a wire harness for my rear fogs, and light bar. I am hoping to get it all wired up before a night-time Halloween parade.
