Tim's JP 21

Post by MrScorpio » March 9th, 2012, 7:30 pm

I didn't do as much to my Jeep as some of the others here but I'm pretty happy with it. I still have a few things to do but I think it's a good start.

I found my Jeep on Craigslist and bought it for $5,100. It came with a winch (not the right brand) and a hard top with full doors and a set of half doors and a bikini top that has seen better days.

First thing was to switch from the 33/12.5/15 tires to a set of 31" Treadwrights with the correct wheels.

Then I added the antenna. If you have the antenna you have to get a CB right? And if you have a CB you have to have a PA speaker to go with it right? I hope so because I got both.

Finally (thanks to a timely tax refund) I got Phil (the guy KN1GHT told me about) to paint the stripes.

and apply the decals I bought from 8-BitDecal guys on eBay. And so now it looks like this:

Put on the soft top my gf bought me and then painted the wheels red.

I'm not going for 100% screen accurate just "close enough for me". Like I said I'm pretty happy with it :D

Looking good man! If I can ever get this sewing machine to work correctly, we'll get you some pouches! and maybe new upholstery seats...

Thanks! It's still giving you trouble? No worries. In the meantime I could go for a couple of those rain coats. I'm heading to Harbor Freight this weekend anyway....

Tim,
It is looking great !!!! Love the wheels and the top... where and how much was the top ? I'm headed to Harbor Freight myself in search for a Winch for the front...
The base coat on my jeep is done and Paintmaster will start on the red today... I finally delivered the decals to them yesterday....

Thanks! I'm pretty pleased with the way the wheels turned out and I'm working on the light bar now.

The top is from Amazon.com. Since I have a hard top I didn't have a frame for the soft top and had to get that too. The top and frame came as a combo for just over $500 (and qualified for free shipping). It's a Rugged Ridge top but as it's my first soft top I can't say how it compares to any other brand.

I saw your Jeep last Friday and it looked pretty sweet. Can't wait to see it with the stripes and decals. When we're done with him Phil will be able to crank out the JP Jeeps in his sleep

It has 4" of lift. I downsized the tires from 33" to 31" but they still make it look huge. Parked next to a stock YJ it looks like a monster truck
