Well two options in the last week...well actually three.
1. Replace the drivers seat entirely
2. Get the seat re-covered
3. Stitch the seat myself and put on a seat cover
I went for option 3 as it was cheaper and I got to dust off my sewing skills.
These are the original seats but the drivers seat is really torn up, pulled stitching and foam sticking out all over the place.
So some white cotton thread (doubled up) and did a rough stitching up of each rip and opened seam.
Then off to Walmart for some flat grey seat covers...SO much nicer.
In addition to this my door strap bar (behind the door panel) ripped off in the summer when a gust of wind caught it.
Took the head of the screw right off so I had to drill it out. No success there but got deep enough where a smaller screw could be used to hold it in.
I love the smaller repairs...something I can do in the garage on my own as opposed to paying someone else to do it.
What's next?
Removing the running boards and re-painting them.
They weren't primed (or if they were they did a terrible job) so the paint is flaking.
Simple task, a few hours and we'll be good
I pulled the wheels off last weekend as well, just for the fun of it really but wanted to check the brakes.
Front discs have about 5,000 miles left on them but the rear drums have less than 1,000 so that's the next peice of maintenance.
I'm still expecting to find something catastrophic on this thing due to the price I got it for....but I've yet to find anything!!
