How was the show?
Thanks! It was fun. I was hoping to win an award but the voting process was really strange so I think it ended up just being a popularity contest. Oh well!

It was about a 30 minute drive each way. Getting up there was ok but on the way back there was bumper to bumper traffic on the highway for a bit because it started down pouring and I was getting a crazy vibration somewhere in the drive train. Even my passenger could feel it. I spent a bit today driving it around to try to replicate it but it seems to be fine. But now the motor has a strange idle to it even when the engine is warm. It kind of revs slightly every second or so. No error codes (if that light actually even works, who knows)

Went to another car show today. No awards were given out (not that I would have won), but it was at a beach my wife and I were going to go to anyways. I spent the prior two nights finishing off the East Dock sign I started months ago. I think some of the paint was still wet when I left for the show. The majority of the cars were pre 1970's American classics. This was kind of the crowd that thinks any car built after 1965 isn't worthy of being shown off. Anyways, here's a pic of my Jeep there. I was a tad scared the sign was going to fall over onto my neighbor's Boss 302 :o

I might put some tropical ferns down on the base of the sign for the next show in 2 weeks.

Fourth show... finally won an award!! It was a state college's car club's fall show. Mostly 20-somethings and most of the cars were imports (Subarus, BMWs, Nissans mostly). Complete opposite show from the other 3. Everyone LOVED the Jeep. They didn't have any award categories, only 3 trophies for the entire event that were given out base on their favorite vehicles. Left the east dock sign at home and brought the Power Wheels Jeep. On the way to the show I stopped by my father in law's and installed the lightbar, whip tie down, and antenna.

I purchased the stencils from a local sign shop. I forget what I paid, but she said the vinyl was specifically for stenciling (so when you go to the sign shop ask them for that). I'm 99% sure this is the file I gave her. She had to convert it to a vector herself though. I'm fairly confident with photoshop etc but those vector programs are beyond me (for now!). Anyways, the black portion of the image is the actual vinyl, and I made it maybe 1" or 1.5" wider on all 4 sides for ease of masking the rest of the hood.

Do you know what your adjusted hood stencil size was? From my understanding, the normal hood graphic is 12" tall and 18" wide. Did you just increase each by an inch or so?

Just ran out and measured. Total is 12.5" tall, 20" wide. I kept a 5/8" gap around the numbers for the red "box". I think depending on your number will depend on how wide the hood stencil is. I love the size I chose even if it's not as accurate as possible, I think the larger size looks better.

Thanks a lot for measuring. I'm getting my graphics printed soon, and I'm tinkering with dimensions. I agree that the larger looks better at filling out the hood, but I have a TJ so obviously it'll lay out a bit differently. I also plan on getting number 05, which might end up being a little wider because both the 0 and 5 are wide numbers themselves.

Pulled the Jeep out of the garage today and put insurance back on it. Going to DC this weekend so it's going to have to go back in the garage but I gotta get the exhaust swapped out so it can pass emissions....

Also received this today. Doesn't work but for $87 shipped I figured it's worth a shot to see why. I might tear into it tomorrow. Anyone know the best way to diagnose a non-functioning winch?

And I took about an hour to work on this today. It appears to only be a faulty remote switch at this point. One of the screw/nuts that holds the remote switch body together was missing, so I know the previous previous owner looked into it. I think the failure point was somewhere inside the connector of the remote that plugs into the solenoid box, which doesn't appear to be serviceable. I'm tempted to just buy another brand or universal remote or hell, even spend less than $10 for a wireless remote for this. A replacement 12' remote from summit is $45+ shipping. I'm going to do more testing tomorrow to verify the motor and solenoids work before I order anything, but tonight in my drunken stupor I was able to get the motor spinning in both directions by just switching the wire that powers each solenoid so I think I'm ok.

I'm also going to strip the winch down, clean up all the electrical connections and give the body a good cleaning... It's pretty dirty.
