Dash is stock but I'm making a custom one... and yes I have the black air vents

Still doing lots of work on it so my apologies for the messiness.
The paint was all applied using a high density foam roller. You thin the paint with mineral spirts enough that the paint self-levels during drying, and them wet sand every 2 coats using 600 grit paper. Both the Rustoleum colors came out really nice after 8 or 10 coats but the green was harder to get right. The pigment kept separating and it needed more than 10 coats to cover. Kinda wish I went a shade darker on it too but 'c'est la vie'. Anyway after your final coat of paint you begin wetsanding in stages up to 2000 grit paper, then finish with a polishing compound and a wax. Comes out surprisingly well. I mean I did this paint job in my driveway. Outside. With bugs and stuff landing in the paint constantly. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, just not on a car that's 3 different colors!ratrace427 wrote:How was the paint applied? You stated that you spray painted the running boards but what about the other parts? Did you spray the purple and yellow?
It's a faux wood finish I did on them. First I sprayed the handles with a tan vinyl dye to lighten the base color (I used SEM "palomino" since I had a few cans of it lying around). Then I used a gel stain applied with a rubber glove to achieve the grain effect. Finished it off with a gloss clear that's made for plastic.yj87jp wrote:Nice work and were did you get the wood trim pieces on the doors
Me too. Ari did his original grey paintjob as a roll on. He has tips about it if you wanna ask him. In fact I first got in touch with him to ask about it.COBrian wrote:Kinda makes we wonder how the jeep could come out with this method, cuz I could do that in my garage.
