If you don't mind me asking... How much did the new engine cost before installation? Is it a used one or a newly rebuilt one? Does it come with a warranty?

Thanks!

Swapping in a 4.0 into a YJ is very easy you have a lot of room to work with when you take off the grill the swap can be done start to finish in a day with a few buddy's and a case of beer and good food

When thay tryed firing the new Engine up thay found my computer was fried  so thay had to wait till to day to get one as thay found the problum late friday and every one was closed sat sun that had one so hopefully thats all and i will have my Jeep back. good news tho i found a doner jeep so ill get my bumper and fender off of it. as well as geting a price on powter coating my rims and light bar 500 i think thats a good deal and the guy is looking for the right code so the red will be right.

So why is it the jeep was running with the rod broken and now with the new engine in the computer is fried? I would be wondering if they fried the computer by leaving the batter hooked up while doing the engine change. It should run as it was before the rod through. The other option is that the computer was the reason for the failure. If it went nuts and dumped a bunch of unneeded fuel or spark in while on the highway that might cause the rod to through. Was there any other bent rods? Whether the computer caused the failure or not the jeep was still running till you turned the key off right? So it should still run unless they shorted something. As soon as they turned the key on they fried it because something was hooked up backwards. Hell maybe they hooked the batter up backwards. LOL I have seen that done. There is a big spark and then something doesnt work right again. Look on the batter post for a melted or burned spot
