Dash is stock but I'm making a custom one... and yes I have the black air vents :)

Still doing lots of work on it so my apologies for the messiness.

How was the paint applied? You stated that you spray painted the running boards but what about the other parts? Did you spray the purple and yellow?

The paint was all applied using a high density foam roller. You thin the paint with mineral spirts enough that the paint self-levels during drying, and them wet sand every 2 coats using 600 grit paper. Both the Rustoleum colors came out really nice after 8 or 10 coats but the green was harder to get right. The pigment kept separating and it needed more than 10 coats to cover. Kinda wish I went a shade darker on it too but 'c'est la vie'. Anyway after your final coat of paint you begin wetsanding in stages up to 2000 grit paper, then finish with a polishing compound and a wax. Comes out surprisingly well. I mean I did this paint job in my driveway. Outside. With bugs and stuff landing in the paint constantly. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, just not on a car that's 3 different colors!

Spray painted the rims, bumpers, and a few other bits using a matching yellow rustoleum but just re-did some parts of it yesterday using the roll-on to improve the color depth and finish. I'll get some pics of it.

All the black parts (side mirrors, pillars, brush guard and running boards) were sprayed using rustoleum "trim and bumper" paint. That stuff is pretty tough and looks nice.

It's a faux wood finish I did on them. First I sprayed the handles with a tan vinyl dye to lighten the base color (I used SEM "palomino" since I had a few cans of it lying around). Then I used a gel stain applied with a rubber glove to achieve the grain effect. Finished it off with a gloss clear that's made for plastic.

It's a bit darker and less orange than what's seen in the film but I think if darker color looks a little richer. I'm thinking of using wood vinyl wrap on the custom center console since it's such a large piece but haven't made up my mind on that yet.

Kinda makes we wonder how the jeep could come out with this method, cuz I could do that in my garage.

Me too. Ari did his original grey paintjob as a roll on. He has tips about it if you wanna ask him. In fact I first got in touch with him to ask about it.

Once you get the hang of rolling the paint on it really is pretty easy. The key is thinning it the right amount. If it's too thick then it'll take forever to dry and you'll see brushmarks. Too thin and it'll run and be too translucent. My mixture was nearly 50/50 mineral spirits to paint and it worked really well.

This pic was taken appx 20 mins after a 4th coat of roll-on maroon:

You'd probably get even better results doing it in a garage!

Having regrets about my color selection since I'm being extra critical about them these days. Wishing the red was less purple and the green was way darker but I'm damn sure not gonna re-do it any time soon. Either way I'm making progress. Dash and center console fab is coming up. Fixed my track sensor on the front bumper. Decals being printed next week.
