Modern "Inspired" 37
I own a 1999 TJ that needed some work done to it. While I was figuring out what I wanted to do with it, Jurassic Park came on and I had my answer. Now I know that it's not the same model but I'm not attempting to create a movie replica. I have unfathomable respect for those who could make it work, but I'm just not one of them. So I decided to go with a more "inspired" look. My TJ is already lifted two inches and has the JK 17 inch rims on it. This is my starting TJ.

The first thing I had to do was replace the front fenders on it since they were pretty rusted through. Annoying project but I found some off a donor jeep for 100 bucks a piece. Not too bad for replacement panels. Plus they matched my original paint color!

Good work, I'm going to have to do the same with my YJ as soon as I can get the funds for the panels. I have other more pressing fixes and replacements that need to happen first though.

First, welcome to the boards. I have to admit that I'm curious to see what you've got in mind since an inspired look can sometimes turn out to be really cool.

I've done a bunch more work on the jeep and I'll post up some more pictures once I get home but right now I'm attempting to figure out paint colors.

Re: Modern "Inspired" 37
Yesterday, Friday, I pretty much overhauled the jeep. It's a northern car so it came with quite a bit of rust. We ground out the back rust, the kick panel rust under the doors, and some major frame rot and then welded in patch panels.
I've lucked out with all of this by having a good family friend that used to own a body shop and has help me do all the work for cost of parts.
We started bondoing everything up and sanding the sides down. Then started fixing the dented up hood from many nights of standing/sitting on it.
We got everything primed that we had sanded down and sanded down the grill area. During this whole time I had been going around removing everything from 3rd brake lights and tire carrier to my old nerf bar and light bezels.
And here's the finish product from a day and a half of work.
Like I said I'm going for an inspired look but I was thinking of staying true to the colors and paint scheme plus I will be putting the decals on it. I've still got a black top and bushwaker pocket fender flares that I dont think I'll be painting seeing as how I just purchased them 2 months ago and they're not cheap. What do you guys think about paint?
Next my driver side floor pan had a hole all the way through and with was about 6x8, so I figured we should totally replace that.I've lucked out with all of this by having a good family friend that used to own a body shop and has help me do all the work for cost of parts.

I think this is going to look great. I can't wait to see the results! I too have a TJ I'm working on converting.

Nice work there natebrandt. Where are you in Alpharetta? I am off McFarland at Union Hill. I have the shop you need to talk to if you want it painted professionally off 141, if you want to look at mine for measurements I am just down the road. Send me a PM maybe we could meet up sometime.

Re: Modern "Inspired" 37
I was picking out paint colors today and got inspired by Milo's JP27 Jeep.
I think his is going to look great and everyone around me is saying that I should do the black as the base coat and keep the red as the stripes. That way the stock black top and with the bushwakers would go. Any thoughts?
