My Jeep initially came with a black supertop, and it utterly spoiled me. I could put that thing up and take it down in 5 minutes by myself, it was great. Then I bought Rugged Ridge OEM hardware and a factory top, and the soft top has been a royal pain ever since. My top is just way too tight, and I've tried just about every Jeepforum.com-suggested remedy there is. I even left the top on for two winters to stretch it, and I can rarely put it up single-handed after all that.

The Supertop may not be accurate, but holy crap is it a dream compared the factory hardware.

Are you saying I should not invest a buttload of money converting to OEM, and instead change my Supertop color from black to Spice?

If accuracy is not your game, and your jeep is your primary car, and if you already have the super top hardware, might as well.

Those magnum hq's by chieftain look great. The KC's that are made now are to large to point downward so i am always afraid to drive with them on because of people behind me. I have thought about mounting a spacer under the base of the KC's but then the rubber boot would have a gap underneath. Hard to explain but how are those chieftains mounted? To the tail light housing or to the jeep itself?

I'm with boomer on this, it is so quick to get on and off on your own & you can do full & halve doors if its your daily drive (mine is). I've just swapped my black one for a brand new spice. Now me being silly and attempting it factory fresh and about 7deg C it was a bugger! But I did it on my own and will fix when I can get heat on it. Only we would know the difference of the tops, I think most people who see it are bedazzled by its a JP jeep anyway to notice.

I mounted the lights to the tail light housing but I am going to move the passenger side light over some because of the stupid metal plate inside the housing I ended up busting a reverse bulb in the process.

Finally got my rear lights wired in and they are stunning, the wiring was a pain though.
