FRESH MEAT!

Just acquired this on eBay for a very reasonable price. It was listed "for parts/not working" but that it was checked out with the programming software. When I received it, I took a look at it via my software and it was in great working condition. So now, it's programmed just like the first one and now I have a matched set (one for me and one for the wife, who is also a ham radio operator).

Now to prep and paint it.

This particular model is, yes. There are some that are the longer case (for the encryption module) and they can be used I suppose.

Yeah, you can find the newer style (securenet and short) radios pretty easily. I was talking about the harder to find older style with the larger button recess and lacking RAT buttons (accurate to JP1, JW they used newer radios).

Also, the radios for JP1 are non-functioning resin copies with fake (also different looking) static screens and always-on LEDs.

Ah, that's how the did it. That would have been a lot easier than modifying a perfectly good working radio (which at the time would have been a very expensive waste of a perfectly good working radio).

And they added a jack on the side where the secure net switch would gave been mounted on the inside. There is just barely enough room for a 1/8" jack in that space. And I suspect that the screw on the side of the radios are to hold the two parts (body and switch/antenna/display innards) together.
