Re: gear cases...
They used Pelican brand cases in the movie, kinda expensive. And the flash light is ridiculously expensive ($2,000 and up).
Here's the case I bought for the Explorer, Pelican 1600 in gray. I want to find a good deal on a tan or orange one for the Jeep.

i use pelican cases for my firearms.
I did not expect those lights to be so expensive; so its time to make my own... this is going to be bad

Yea, there was a broken one eBay that went for $400, a buddy of mine was going to try and make copies of the light housing and retro it with a cheaper flashlight.

Re: gear cases...
I added some Craftsman tool boxes to the rear fender wells. They were just plain latched boxes, so I added some "o" loops and padlocks to keep them secure. The boxes are the perfect size, it's like they're meant for that spot.
They hold all my towing/recovery gear quite well:
They're bolted though the fender with two bolts each and I tightened them down with wing nuts on the inside, so I can remove the boxes if needed.
Eventually, I may swap out the boxes I have for larger tool boxes.

Looks great, I've been wanting to do something with that space, it's perfect for tool boxes. Let me know what boxes you find, I might be interested in some as well, although those you have now fit really well.

What brand and model was the flashlight? Do you have a link?Cyrix9445 wrote:They used Pelican brand cases in the movie, kinda expensive. And the flash light is ridiculously expensive ($2,000 and up).

Re: gear cases...
Hey guys,
Sorry to necro-post, don't want to start a ton of threads about the same item.
So I've scored myself a grey Pelican 1600 and want to make this prop obviously.
I'm slowly building a maxabeam from spares I've been finding online (hoping it will be cheaper that way) and I have an extinguisher. My only problem now is that flares are illegal in Oz (except for parachuting star launchers for maritime safety but they look way wrong) and I have no idea how big a roadside flare is or what is written on it etc. I'm thinking of knocking up some replicas out of wooden dowel. wondering if someone can give me some measurements and close up pics of labeling?
