.063 has a nice thickness to it
.040 isn't bad, but I wouldn't go much thinner.

I have some fence lights too; An electrical engineer friend of mine is going to make a circuit board to alternate the lights for me.

If he doesn't end up having time, I'm just going to buy this:

My lights are 110V AC though. What are you lights?

Those lights are way more accurate than mine, it'll be really neat once you get that set up. I plan to eventually build a collapsible fence piece, so I can set it up and take it to car shows,

jpsteve wrote:They will start out alternating then, start flashing together, then alternate and so on. I think the lights flash at different speeds. Does anyone know how I could wire them so that power is turned on to 1 bulb while cutting power to the other bulb, then alternating it like a switch? Or does anyone have any other ideas?
Steve, what are you using to control the flashing right now? The solution might be as easy as just wiring in a double throw relay, which is essentially an electromechanical switch.

What is an electro mechanical relay, do you have a link or pic so I know what that is. Right now I just hooked them up to a car battery with alligator clips, they flash because they have an internal relay or something, they just always overlap each other because they flash at different speeds.

The "common" connection comes from the battery, then the "NC contact" (normally closed, as in closed loop or circuit) and the "NO contact" (normally open) each connect to a different bulb, with a common ground. The yellow coil there has two connections. When the coil, which is an electromagnet, is powered, it moves the armature from the NC contact position to the NO contact position. This way, power only goes to one contact at a time (the lights wouldn't overlap being on or off). I don't know if that makes sense, this might explain it a little better http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/relay.htm

If it flashes because of internal components in the bulb, adding a relay won't help you out. I don't remember the rate at which they flash, but you would need a controller that can output enough power to charge the relay coil if you were to go that route. Or find a different solution such as a railroad crossing signal controller. I honestly haven't looked into something you could use
