Ostrich Egg

Post by Mark Brody » June 11th, 2017, 7:11 pm

On my last visit to the Atlanta Zoo, I learned they sell ostrich eggshells in the gift shop. How could I say no? As it turns out, you can get these online pretty easily. I thought it might be a nice addition to my Papo dinosaur display on my TV hutch.

Awesome! Are they pretty durable?

I'm not interested in testing out its durability, but for an egg, it's pretty strong. The shell appears to be about 1.5 mm thick. I'm not afraid of it cracking in my hands, but I certainly wouldn't want to drop it - even on a carpeted floor. I saw a guy on YouTube make an ostrich egg omelette, and he used a hammer to chip a hole in the bottom to empty the contents.
