WIP: 2-man 22 foot long Triceratops prop/costume
This was begun as a Star Wars 'Dewback' lizard costume to be used in parades with a dummy Sandtrooper riding it, but since joining this forum it occured to me that the body shape is much like a Triceratops, and if I sculpt interchangable heads, it can also be an amusing JP prop. The basic body frame is lightweight PVC conduit which will be covered with foam to give realistic musculature, and then covered in scales made of Army sleeping matts.
The legs of the 'drivers' will be attached to the creatures legs, which will move all the way to the shoulder/pelvis so it will look like a real animal walking and not "two guys in a horse costume". It doesn't look impressive now, but I believe it will be fairly convincing when completed. This will be just the thing to 'chase' a JP jeep in a parade.

Looks awesome, makes me want to get back into star wars costuming
Re: WIP: 2-man 22 foot long Triceratops prop/costume
After building my Vader, I guess Star Wars costuming was just boring. Glad to see though you got excited about the JP stuff like I did.

Re: WIP: 2-man 22 foot long Triceratops prop/costume
An old thread, but I noticed that I never posted a photo of the completed costume/prop as requested. (I had been absent quite awhile as I had trouble logging in). Here it is, at least the original Star Wars version. It is a functional two person costume, and when walking the tail sways realistically and leg movement goes to the top of the shoulders as the human feet fit into the creature's feet. The mouth opens (with teeth and tongue) and the head turns and raises. This costume won the "Best of Show" at Star Wars Celebration VI in Orlando and since then has appeared at many conventions.
The next phase which I have begun is sculpting a matching Triceratops head which can be swapped out for display with the Jurassic Jeep, which I want to have completed for the Cincinatti Comic Con this Summer in conjunction with the JP Jeep and Park Gate I am just finishing now.

This is great!
Do you have more build progress photos?
I have worked and built puppets and someday hope to make a large life size Utah Raptor to wear (like the exhibit walking with dinosaurs that toured in 2010/2011), as well as a functional Yoda puppet.
