Re: Dave's JP Jeep #29
Thanks Dan, it is coming together. I put the last coat of red on my other 4 wheels and just need to clear them. Finally lined up the shop to paint mine, not cheap but they will do a great job. They are going to touch up any scratches or blems in the basecoat, scuff the entire basecoat, shoot the red and numbers/JP with stencils and reclear the whole jeep in a satin clearcoat. It is a good bit of work, but I will do most of the prep and dissasembly to save me some $. Soon as I get my stencils/decals I should be pretty good to go. There is a big 4WD blood drive here at the end of April, hope to have it ready to show by then.
I am going to replace/paint my rear flares at the same time. At some point in the last 17 years the tires radiused some cuts in them and it would look weird with the red paint on top. Got those ordered, should be here next week.
I am ordering the BFG tires from my local BJ's warehouse, should be here around Mar 17.

Started to de-trim for paint today. Going to try and drop at the shop this coming week. Gotta pull off the top and all hardware and door trim yet. But pleased that paint will come soon.

Sadly I missed out on this when I bought mine.....but I can only imagine the excitement seeing the Jeep with its fresh coat of paint for the first time.
Be sure to take pictures as soon as you get it back from the shop

Like John Hammond said.... "Spared no expense"
Shop is busy till next week, so won't get started till then. I'll drop before I head to Detroit for work, should be good to go when I get back home.
That was some pricey rubber
