Finally some warm weather!!! I work for toyota, so the recent earthquake and what not is causing me some "extra" vacation days. Hopefully I'll be able to put some man hours into my Jeep. Ive made some progress, but since im trying to fix/restore a few things before the major transformation happens my progress wont excite most of you. oh well, here it is anyway. I hope to post more in the next few weeks as I make more progress

Been working on the jeep but nothing worth posting. I have however started on a speaker box for the rear of the jeep. Ive never done anything with fiberglass so figured it was time. I made the base by molding the fiberglass directly over the tub on some aluminum foil. I made the walls out of wood. I cleaned up the edges and placed two wooden posts where the speaker ring will be mounted. So far I have 3 layers of fiberglass making my shape. I hope to add more and then cleaning it up smooth. I have several ideas on how to finish it but wanted some input from you guys before I decide. My ideas are

1) herculiner it since my tub is done in that manner.
2) paint tan to resimble the tool boxes on Jeep#10 (even though im doing 12, mine wont be a complete replica anyway so no harm done).
3) use the primary and secondaey base colors of the JP Jeep in some way and maybe place a blue ingen logo on it.
Im open to other suggestions as well, let me know what you guys think.

I am not an audio guy, since I can't hear the radio in the Jeep much anyways. I did always like these:

They are very Jeep #10 ish. Kind of like what you are making.

There's a guy on one of the jeep forums that has build a couple of "stealth" subs into the bottom section of the rear seat. I know he had done it for a TJ seat, not sure if he ever did a YJ. I see if I can locate the link.

Found it, here's the site.

Yeah, I thought about doing something under the seat but to have any kind of air supply for the sub, it would have to extend to the tail gate and my dog would have nowhere to sit. But those boxes turned out pretty cool.

Are there really no opinions about how I should finish this thing? Wheres the love???

Are you gonna have carpet in there? If not I would just rhino line it and the rest of the tub.

I really like the idea of a sub located in the rear seat.. then you would just have to fold it up when you wanted to use it.

No carpet. I think i will herculine it, maybe put an ingen logo on it. It should be done soon. I had planned on being well into the painting by now, but the Japan situation has affected my pay checks. Might have to sell a couple toys so I dont use the whole summer working on my summer vehicle. lol

Finished with 2 layers of herculiner and 1 layer of their UV topcoat.
