JP 18 Xterra 2004 4x4

Post by ckreese15 » July 7th, 2015, 10:46 pm

Decided a few months ago to do this, and now I'm ready to really get started. I want to paint it in the general theme of the JP Jeeps. I'm looking for ideas on how to do my red lines, I have a quick mock up I did in photoshop, but ideas and feedback would be greatly appreciated. Getting a new bumper with a winch soon. Thanks!

Looks like a good start there, I like the concept.

Here's my attempt at the same concept. See what you think!

I really like the front half! I'm trying to come up with something that follows the lines of the body on the rear half, since the Jeep style stripes kinda cut right through the natural lines of the car, Front half is perfect though. I'm going to have to get creative about the Door decal. Those grey lines in the door are raised, and not removable without leaving a mess.

Glad you liked the front bit, and I totally understand what you mean with the natural lines of the car. My thought when I did the back bit was that the strip follows the line up the bulge for the wheel arch and goes up the side just under the window and continues onward.

The grey lines on the side, I know the pain you're up for. I did a charity rally earlier this year, and the vinyl sticker we had to put on the drivers door was huge, and had to go directly over a plastic moulding just like this one. Surprisingly enough, it didn't really look all that bad once on, and the moulding on my car was like a mountain range.

If your budget stretches, get a duplicate set of logo vinyls when you order them, that way you can plat with placement a bit and have a gallvack plan if it looks no good.

That was my thought, Just did some quick research and if push comes to shove I can take it off, but risking damaging my clear coat. All depends on how much that glue has sunk in in 10 years. I would like to try and keep the color I have now, I actually like it a bit better than the tan on the jeep. Waiting on some paint and decals to come in as we speak.
