Austin TX #12

Post by qubitz » May 14th, 2015, 10:03 pm

Well, today was the big day, my '94 sahara arrived and now the real fun begins. I am planning to turn it into a #12. There are a couple upgrades to the car I plan to revert. It has an aftermarket spare tire carrier, new center console, the spare tire had the wrong wheel (which I've already picked up a replacement for). I've ordered the decals but plan to have most of it professionally painted. The biggest unknown for me right now will be the light bar. No real solid leads tracking down a suitable one yet. I'll post pictures as it progresses!

Nice, another Texas Jeep! I'm in Houston, welcome to the club! You have a nice start right there. Those tires are pricey, so you lucked out on those! Same with the halfdoors, im assuming it has the pouches. I may be able to get you a light bar made. I have one and I think im going to have it used as a template to make a 1 piece light bar.

man did you get lucky with that find... almost everything you need. Front fogs are ridiculously hard to find these days.

Thanks guys. I'm really excited about it. It's got pretty low miles so it's in quite good shape. Nothing is missing in the interior, except for that center console. All the pouches are there behind the seats and on the doors.

ProjectVIC if you could help me figure out the light bar that would be awesome. I've been in touch with Cassidy Customs about making one but correspondence has been spotty so who knows if that will come through.

What did you guys do for paint? I initially thought I'd just get it don't professionally but now I'm considering plasti dip.

I had mine professionally painted because well, for one, it was hunter green. Plus I wanted to restore the jeep to its glory days. If your paint is still good, just go with plasti dip and save up for a complete paint job later on. here is my build if you need a reference http://projectjp12.weebly.com/

You sure did luck out with finding a jeep that has most of the parts that are hard to come by. My build didn't come easy.

I just saw a center console on ebay. It just needs a re-dye

Awesome thanks. I didn't know you could dye them. I'll look into that.
