Virginia Jeep 18

Post by symblieye » July 27th, 2014, 11:25 am

Well, it finally happened. After a long time of searching for a good base jeep to start with, I came across one that had already been started! Details and more pics to come but I wanted to post as soon as I could.
The basics:
1992
Sahara
Manual
From Pennsylvania

At the least I plan to do:
- correct set of rims
- hood decal
- some minor repairs here and there
And potentially I may:
- half doors
- soft top
- BF tires
- Fog light covers
- replace light bar
- a list of other things I can't think of right now

Its a work in progress, but I plan to have fun with it! :)

Nice starter man! You're over half way there, maybe throw on the accurate tan paint and you'll be set.

uhmm its a 92 it looks like it is the correct tan paint. You'll be done in no time. PS the antenna really adds the BAM! factor (well IMO)

Well it has definitely been painted before, they even painted the doorhandles. If you're going with half doors you're going to have to painted anyway
So I would make sure it was the
right color

She was definitely painted. Originally she was Sahara Dark Green. I know other YJ's were Green as well, I just really like that I was able to get a Sahara :)

I haven't had really any time to do anything with it yet, but parts I have collected so far:
5 - 5 spoke Jeep OEM Rims - the accurate ones
Spice color Soft Top with hardware from a 95 - needs some cleaning and a minor repair, but I fairly pleased with the condition
Correct Side Mirrors
Some other random pieces for random repairs

Current tasks:
Looking for Sahara Half Doors - or failing that, might just get some regular YJ doors and try to convert them
Decals - I need the hood decal, and might want a set of door decals - I will explain
Planning Sound Box - I am thinking secondary independently powered loud sound system hooked to bluetooth reciever and put an ipod touch in a dash cradle with soundboard app installed
so it can be used in the car, and from a short distance at shows
Cleaning and repairing a few items

When I first got it, I was thinking of maybe leaving the hard top and full doors on, esp since there are so many replicas that have an item different here and there
But then I thought - I could have the best of both worlds!
Since the the guy before the previous owner already converted these doors and since they are YJ Sahara full doors, and since the hard top is tan in color, if I am able to get the parts needed, I'll have a JP Jeep that can be used and look JP with either Half doors and a Soft top OR Full doors and a Hard top, depending on what I am doing with the jeep at the time.
Woot!

So in summation: who does everyone currently get their decals from?
