CT TJ JP 05 [Complete]
Edit Complete
--------------------------------------------------
Hi all, just wanted to share that I've taken the plunge and done the first step, acquiring a jeep for conversion! I did decide to go with a TJ simple due to the higher ease of availability, among other things. But they can still look great. Likely won't be able to get started with anything until the summer, but here it is in its beginnings.

2001 TJ Sahara, 131k. Got it with the green cloth interior to keep with the original as best as I could. 5 speed manual

Re: CT JP Jeep #? Beginnings!
Welcome! Where in CT are you? I'm in Cromwell and at the moment fixing up the interior. Then in the next few weeks I'll be fixing up the exterior and then painting. It's finally warm enough to actually spend more than 5 minutes outside working on it at a time...

I'm in Trumbull, we've had a decently nice last week give or take a couple of cold days. I picked this up in New Jersey on Saturday, brother actually had to drive it home due some circumstances, and I was finally able to drive it around yesterday and it is really a blast to drive!

Re: CT JP Jeep #? Beginnings!
so I have made a few small steps forward in the project. I had to get a new soft top, as the one that was on the car when I bought it was ripped in a few of the zipper areas. Here are a couple pics of the new top installed (bestop replace-a-top) from a few weeks ago

I also just was able to finally acquire half doors! Here are some pictures

^ In this one you can see how the passenger side half door pin on the top doesn't sit fully down like the other side, and like the full doors do

Re: CT JP Jeep #? Beginnings!
Exciting new developments! Jeep was picked up today to head to the body shop for paint after partial prepping at home. Also today I picked up vinyl stencils and door decals I had done at a local sign shop. I decided on number 05. Anyone know how to request a mod to change the thread name to include the number?

Nice! How long did they estimate the paint job to take?

A few crappy pictures my brother was able to send to me from the shop, but the beige is sprayed!

Re: CT JP05
Was able to go back and see the finished beige in person yesterday even thought the shop was closed for the 26th.
I'm really happy with how the beige looks in person! For the single stage paint applications, I was able to choose my finish from flat, matte, and semi gloss. I settled in the middle with matte.

Looks great! I think matte is a great choice. That's what I went with. And then he put flattener in for the red but it had a slight more sheen to it, which I was completely fine with. It's really strange getting a brand new paint job and not having the vehicle be nice and SHINY.
