Bestop doesn't make "OEM" hardware. Mine is from Rugged Ridge.

As far as I know, Bestop makes their own hardware... compared to OEM. They make tops that work with their own stuff, and make tops that work with factory hardware.

So you have Factory style hardware that is made by Rugged Ridge?

Almost ran out of gas. I guess the gauge isn't very accurate?

It was sitting at 1/4 tank when I left and was around 1/8 tank when it started to stumble. It just barely made it to the gas station. Then I filled it up. Could only get 19.2 gallons in a 20 gallon tank. I would have expected it to hold 20.5 or 21.

Anyone know why a 20 gallon tank would start to run out at around 18-19 gallons? Is there a reserve valve? Is my tank full of sediment? Bad filter? Bad pump?

My '89 is empy at one needle's width below 1/4 tank. Is your tank a true 20gal? I believe some tanks were 15 and there was a mod to covert to 20. Maybe not full 20.

Ah yea I've heard that, something about removing a tube to allow you to pump more gas. I believe the Saharas will take 20GAL from the factory though.

YJ's are notorious for the gauge being "off"

A few solutions, might look it up on jeepforum.com, but a couple I remember: Take off the dash and clean the connections, or worst case, replace sending unit.

Mostly I have heard to keep track of fuel using your odo. , just reset every time you fill up, you will know how many miles you can drive.

Mine goes empty around the 1/8 mark. I just dont let it get close.....

How far can you go?

Should I just fill up at 300 miles?
