JP 40 - In Progress
Hi everyone. So as I posted in my introduction I have recently acquired a 1994 Sahara. It's got all the correct interior and it's the champagne color so close enough for me until it actually needs a repaint. Why #40? Because I got it for my 40th birthday (well today is my actual birthday). So, the first steps are to get it mechanically sound. It'll be getting new rear brakes Sunday. At the same time I'll be replacing the fuel tank which I have discovered is badly cracked and is leaking. Then I'll be going through the suspension, transmission servicing, and both axles. I'm an automotive restorationist by trade, though I currently work for a large insurance company. While the fuel skid plate is off I'll be sand blasting it back smooth and giving it a good coat of black. Also be pulling the bumpers, cleaning them up and doing the same. If it's rusty I'll be cleaning it, if it's weathered I'll repaint it. Everything goes back to new before I start the conversion process. First step is likely to be the winch done in tandem with a 2.5" suspension lift. At some point during the summer I'll be picking up a hardtop and full doors as well for the colder months. I've located a set of factory wheels I'm trying to make a deal on, those I will work over to get all the dings out of before having them powder coated. The lightbar I'll be making myself as it's very simple and I have the tools to do so. Along with the front bumper tow brackets. Anyway. I''ll post up some picture as work progresses.

Happy Birthday!
I'm planning on doing a similar project, something that can hold a full emergency style lightbar, and still has the toolboxes like a #10.
Nice that you have the equipment and knowledge to make the bar and brackets.

Depending on how well it goes and demand for them I may make a couple extra.

Well, picked up rear brakes, and my new gas tank came in so I'll be busy Saturday morning. Trying to decide what the next thing I should do is. Already have AC coming. Thinking get the lights for the lightbar maybe and replacement bulbs for my bumper lights.

Alright, front and rear brakes have been done. Oil change to Mobile 1. Changed the fluid in both diffs and the transmission and transfer case using Redline products. Fuel tank and pump were replaced, waiting on the new skid plate to get here and it and the straps will be new. Crack gauge surround replaced. Starting the AC install this coming weekend. Then I'll be stripping the top and doors off and going to pickup the new hard top and full doors for winter service.

Re: JP 40 - In Progress
Friend of mines family runs a heavy equipment fab shop and made these for me this morning. This afternoon he'll be cutting the plates and bending the bar for my light bar. We'll be making some extras too if anyone is interesting in buying them.
