New member, new project... but on a different scale.

Another new member here. I've been using the images here so much for reference I figured I'd go ahead and introduce myself. Just so you know, my project is a little different. Mine is only 1/10 scale. I'm not the first person to build a Tamiya Jeep and make it look like one from Jurassic Park, but I'd like to think I'll take mine further than most people.

My name is Garrett, and I live in Kansas. Have been a Jurassic Park fan since it came out, but i could never justify getting a real Jeep (at least not yet). I saw someone in town with their own real replica and had to do something about it. So since I'm into RC, I found an out of production Tamiya Jeep to convert.

Here is what I'm starting with off of eBay. I plan on re-creating Jeep #12 with as much of the screen accurate parts that I can. This includes the rims, soft top, doors, lightbar, wench and rear amber lights as well as the basic stuff like the paint scheme. I'm going to 3D print most of the parts. The rims are already done.

If anyone could point me to or post some views of the lightbar (looking more down on it) that would be helpful. Most shots I find are from the ground and I can't get a real sense of what it really looks like.

Thanks in advance!!!

Check out the Jurassic Park Motor Pool reference page. Has pretty much everything you need. Also you can find a lot of photos on their Instagram.

Got some new parts today. Gotta have the right tires. Three perfectly good sets, but they need to be BFG's. Even one for the spare...

Looking good. What software are you 3D modeling with?

And I hate to say it, but the right tires are All-Terrain, not mud-terrain.

Your Jabsco light models look great! I assume you'll be 3d printing these?

I couldn't find any All-Terrain white wall tires. These were the best I could find with out attempting to print some lettering on a rubber tire. The models originally came with white lettered Good-year Wranglers which seemed like a reasonable option as well.

The software depends on what computer I'm on but Solidworks, Catia and ProE.

Received a new lighting kit. Just need to figure out how far I want to take lighting this thing. And here is a peek at the Ramsey wench.
