Thanks guys! The decals made a big difference in the overall look I think.

You're right though these things aren't so great mechanically speaking. This particular Explorer is on her 3rd motor and I've got some recent check engine light trouble. Drives great despite it's cheapness though. Would've done a Jeep if I had the budget for it :)

I'm awful at documenting my step-by-step progress but I'll try and get more detailed on the next parts. Now I get to move on to the fun stuff: custom dash and center console, custom upholstery, and the infamous bubble roof.

Dash is stock but I'm making a custom one... and yes I have the black air vents :)

Still doing lots of work on it so my apologies for the messiness.

It's just a video that I burned to DVD and play in the car radio. Works well for now but eventually I'm going to have an interactive system running on an Android MK808. Video creator used screenshots/graphics that I've seen on theRPF which are fairly easy to find. Hope this helps!

Not my video so I can't take any credit. Creator is daemon from the explorer forums. I believe he said he used Premiere Pro to cut the video together. There are a few other versions out there. Audio came from jplegacy and video is clips from the film and a little custom art. Looks great on the monitors though!

Hey thanks! Having to do lots around the house lately but I'll have the dash installed in a few weeks. I suspect around that time I will probably shoot some video of the Explorer to share.

Got a Question for ya. How'd you do the paint exactly? I'm seriously considering and commiting to doing an Explorer Tour Vehicle and I'm a little lost at how the red was done. Was the green masked off where you Didn't want the red paint and the red was applied? Or visa versa? And how did you get the pattern? Was it just eyeballed?

Kudos to doing an Explorer!! She looks stunning. I'm sure No Expense was spared.

The red was rolled on first, then masked off by hand (eyeballed) using reference photos for the pattern. The green was then rolled on, then the mask on the red was removed to reveal the stripes. It took FOREVER but came out pretty good.

Still working on the interior. Just got a center console roughed out and I'm working on the dash. Snapped this test pic when I got both my (screen accurate!) front and rear monitors finally up and running:
