Hello my fellow nerdist and enthusiast.
I am beginning my JP18 build finally.

I was able to secure a nice 1988 Jeep Wrangler YJ Laredo Edition in White/Leather. I am going junkyard diving in the morning to try and find a replacement Left front Fender and Front bumper. Back Bumper, correct wheels, CB antenna, some tube iron, and possibly a dinosaur or two.
I think the last thing will be the easiest actually...

I will do my best to keep this updated.

Wish me luck.

Oh, and I need to find the side-steps and foglights front and back....

Thanks Boost1995. I'm going to chronicle my day to day on this build, so I don't fall off the wagon.

I was able to remove, sand, and prime the doors today.

It took two coats of primer spray to make an even coat.

I was able to talk my better half into going to home depot to get Paint, Primer, Sanding Circles for my sander, and some necessary tapes and plastic...

I was also able to pick up some speakers for cheap, and a new horn at a pickNpull type place.

Tomorrow I get to drive 4 hours to pick up 4 of the sahara wheels with some secondhand tires on them, which I will be replacing with the matching tires on my Jeep right now... Which leaves me with finding the spare, I think I have one lined up, just need to go get it. (The spare is ending up costing me more than the other 4 combined btw)

Not bad for $100.

I'm still searching for some secondhand foglights if possible and I'm debating fabricating a light bar or ordering one...

I also need to find front and rear bumpers and sidesteps for the JP18...

so nothing too big. HA!

That's awesome. Do you have any painting experience or are you learning as work on jp18?

That looks like a great starting point! Seems relatively rust free.

Here are some dimensions if you are looking to fabricate yourself a lightbar (not my file, I got it on the site here). You can also freehand it pretty well if required, mine turned out half decent as I made mine before I found the dimension PDF.

Thank you for the specs. I'm not 100% sure how I'm going to accomplish it, but I will videotape it so everyone can learn from my mistakes

So... Today was a bust.

I waited until 1130 to start an 8 hour round trip to get the ALY01512U10 Rims from a guy in South Carolina, about 2 hours into my trip, he texts me saying "I had something come up and I have to go out of town." Granted I understand stuff happens, but I was HALFWAY THERE!!!! And magically the rims disappeared off of craigslist before I got home. (Some people should have been swallowed by their parents)

Anyway, so I wasted an afternoon and it looks like I will be ordering the wheels from a refurb shop for $118 EACH. Dude was charging $100 for 4.

I'm going to keep researching, because I will NOT let some a$$hole get to me....

oh, and it took half a tank of gas.

I hate people.

Not you guys.

OH, and the primer coats look super smooth on the doors, I just have to re-bondo a section and sand it down. But I will be painting them by Tuesday. Hooray!

That sucks man! I had that happen to me a couple of times when I was trying to buy a YJ. That's when I decided to build a tribute jku instead. Haha. sounds like you have a good wheel solution figured out tho. Should look great.

Those wheels come up on CL all the time. They are often listed under "Cherokee Rims".
