After five or six months of searching I had to give up looking for a Sahara as the difficulty in finding a good one was tough. I ended up settling on a red, 95 automatic that, most importantly, also had air conditioning. It came with a hard fiberglass top and upper sliding window frames. Admittedly pretty far away from a Sahara, but I did enjoy driving around this past summer open top. It does, however, have a grey interior so that's a start, ha.

I was able to get it locally and it had no rust whatsoever and looks to have never been off road.

The first things I did were to paint the mirrors and all the black accessories and the inside door panels hunter green. I also changed out the upper dash pad as it was cracked.

While biding my time, I was also searching craigslist and ebay for good deals on accessories. I found a good set of the aluminum wheels for $40.

I've started the sanding process and I've also ordered the paint which will be here next week. The paint was ordered through TCP Global as seen here for around $200: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1234 I've purchased this paint gun: http://www.harborfreight.com/20-oz-high ... 47016.html which goes on sale for around $15.

I'm shooting to have around $7500 total in the jeep. After I get everything broken down, I'll try to post the numbers.

I've found incidentals add up quickly. Many of those are new or specialty tools which I figure in, but they don't hurt as bad. I think for me to stay within budget, I'll have to find the seats and a winch for $1500.

I've used it a good bit this "Winter." I think I took the hard top off first thing when I bought the jeep. I imagine Salmon feel the same way in the canning process when they close the lid and turn up the heat.

Ha, thanks! Being a huge Wayne Knight fan I was just searching his name and ran across it.

Sanding is a real pain in the ass and I now know why places charge so much for prep-work.

On a side note, instead of carpet, I'm thinking about doing this DIY bead liner in hunter green: http://www.amazon.com/Raptor-Tintable-T ... sim_auto_4

Haha! Yeah, GA is screwy like that. Where in Athens-area are you?
