Re: It was "In the making" but now "It's made"
I finished it up this morning. After getting the power cables ran i hit the out button over and over again. I would hold the button down also. I gave the solenoid a good workout and it started to work again. The contacts on the solenoid are corroded up some from lack of use.

Re: It was "In the making" but now "It's made"
Thanks, but with a new cable it would look better. I dont know if i want to put a new cable on. There is a place in Tulsa that can put the hook on for me but i can also get a new cable from them if i choose. Im thinking the new cable will look just like the one i already have after a year or two but i dont know.yj87jp wrote:Looks brand new again:)
Suggestions? Should i do a new cable or know when to quit?

That cable looks like you use it, I say keep it! What's the cost of a new one?

Your current cable still looks good. I'd keep it.

That turned out great!
Also, if you want to give your bumpers a "fresh off the lot" look, buy an aerosol can of truck bed liner and hit your front and rear bumpers. The gloss dies down when it dries and it's a really cost-effective solution for getting rid of the little rust spots and chips that form on all of our bumpers.

I made a template today for the hooks. After prolonged staring at the photo provided by imperialtrooper, I noticed that the hook plate doesnt cover the little holes in the winch plate. I am guessing about all the other dimensions but i have got it close. What thickness of plate does everyone think these are made from?

Re: It was "In the making" but now "It's made"
I have a small band saw here at the house but only a cracker box for a welder and that will no do. (A stick welder) I will need someone with a better welder to weld them together for me. My father has access to a machine shop at his employer. I think i trust my dad to do the entire project. My dad can be anal about getting the details perfect but he has a shake in his hands these days. The idea i have in my mind is cutting it slightly larger than my outline and then use a belt sander to get it down to the right size. That way the lines will be perfectly straight. Maybe he will let me in the door to his work so i can use the cool machines or at least overlook him.
