Paint and such cost me I want to say $230, at the advising of my buddy whom has painted vehicles for a living I am only wet sanding down deep enough to scratch the factory color so I can have a spray-able surface but do not have to worry about exposing and compromising the metal. The grit I will be using starting next week is 1500 and 2000 (both wet sand) and I am still figuring out what I am going to do for the engine compartment, for the flares I am sanding down to plastic, repairing the holes made by rusty plates sticking to bolts  , then spraying on Bulldog adhesion promoter and painting, using new hardware for re-installation (there is a special layer of you know where for the guy that decided on how to attach the flares to the main body).

consider using scotch bright for preparing the surface for paint. I think the 1500 or 2000 is to fine. I use 2000 after i have painted, as the last step.

Whelp I have officially started the long arduous task of sanding and removing decals. Thank you Previous Owner for clear coating OVER the decals, and also shipping company lost my primer so I have to wait for more to be sent so I can work on my tires, painting one wheel at a time.

One of the Oklahoma owners had clear over his pin striping. He has a 95 model. I am starting to think that sand beige poly is the only one without clear and everything else will. My painter disagreed with me when I told him that my 92 didnt have clear before he started the project. He says all production cars have clear. He was surprises that mine really didnt have clear.

Well thanks to some sandpaper, and my new buddy the heat gun, the only decals left are the pinstripes on the rear passenger side, the ones that go UNDERNEATH the tailgate hinge (have I mentioned that I hate the engineers that worked on the YJ) which is being held on by a certain four letter word that begins with T and is not appropriate for such a family friendly forum, and the 4.0L High Output decal. As well as the cheap dealership decal that just flakes off in tiny shreds.

The decals are off, the roll cage and floor boards are uncovered, and I might be getting final measurement's for my light bar's fab on Saturday, the only thing I have left to do before painting is many more hours of sanding.

Ok so quick question, what color is the roll cage underneath the wrappings, because if it is red then sanding shouldn't have to be as in depth since I will be rattle canning the red...

Mine are currently red without the padding. It doesn't look out of place at all, but its on the to do list when I start on the interior.
