My tires rubbed the same way until I used the washers on the steering stops. Now everything clears just fine. You should be okay running 31s as long as your stock springs are in good shape.

Got news that the engine arrived yesterday. I'm having the Jeep towed out to the shop on Wednesday for the transplant. If all goes according to plan, this should be my last Jeep-less weekend and I can get back to the JP build! :D

Question for you guys with larger than stock tires. How did you get them to mount to the factory spare tire carrier? I just put some 235/75/15s on my YJ tonight and I used one of the older 235/70/15 as a spare and it will not fit. It hits the rubber bumpers before there is even enough to get the lug nut started. Am I missing something here?

I have a small spare on mine now, but I figure I'll use a wheel spacer to fit a 31". But I hear that it can cause stress on the hinges due to the bigger tires being much heaver. :/
