Mainly "weekend excursions": trips to state and national parks, sci-fi/fantasy conventions (when we can attend), and the like... That said, I'll probably drive it to work every once and a while! Looking forward to driving it to school for the first time after it's finished! :)

I'm so jealous that you found a jeep in such great condition. Up here in Boston, it's almost impossible to find one that isn't rusted through. And this one has the right wheels, sidesteps ect. Thats awesome! I'm graduating school in May and I have a job lined up. I'm going to find the perfect jeep somewhere in the country and have it shipped out here. I'm giving up on trying to find one here.

So, I received an incredible and heartwarming surprise yesterday. As some of you may recall, I mentioned that I teach band and the band parents of my field commander own a body shop and have been coordinating with me on the JP paintwork for my Jeep that I purchased back in June. Today, I was utterly surprised to walk around the band hall after our after-school band rehearsal had concluded and found all of my students gathered around the Jeep, which they presented to me! (I had thought it wouldn't be ready for few days.)

As it turns out, the band parents had donated money to pay for the ENTIRE paint job and the body shop donated all of the labor! Additionally, my wife surprised me with the new soft-top, which I had not planned to purchase for a few months. Needless to say, I was nearly in tears!
