Australian TJ #14
Re: Australian TJ #14
i spent the last afternoon trying to wire up the deltas but it just wont work. all the connections are secure and the switch lights up but the actual lights do nothing. the only thing i can think of is the grounds arent working but even then it should be doing something?

Wow that bar really changes the look of the TJ, suits it way better than the silly chrome pipe bars.
You might have lucked out and scored two blown bulbs or the negative leads inside the lights have fallen off bulb housing. tried to put 12v straight onto a light just to check its not your wiring?

Holy hell what happened there lol.
Plates look good though mate! What's involved with getting your Ramsey on that bar, just drilling some holes?

what happened was i connected the switch backwards and turned it on...
anyway, i need to stick it to a mounting plate then that bolts on. it wont be able to sit like it does on the YJ because of the sway bar(?). theres two types of plate: one that raises the winch over the bar or one that lets it sit in front by sticking out from the bumper a bit. i'm thinking the one that makes it sit out a bit because that looks more like the Yj's plate
any way thats a moot point because i tired to rotate the end casing so the warning lable faced up and... kinda dropped one of the gears in the dirt. so now i have to clean and regrease the gear box. but while its in pieces im going to mask off the stickers and repaint it. i also need to replace the rusty old cable and hook
actually the gearbox is an even mooter point because i dont have controls or wiring for it either

The switch doesnt care on how the wires are hooked up, you need a relay controlled by the switch. The bulbs pull to much power for the switch to handle. Do you have the power wire for the lights hooked right to the switch? If thats the case, that cant be done. If you are saying you had the wiring wrong for the switch internal light then i could see that happening. The switch placement looks very nice.

someone linked me to a facebook page called "exotic car spotters of Adelaide" and between the ferraris and maseratis was this:
today i tested gloss coat vs matte coat. i know which one i like better but unfortuantely its not the cost effective one...
other than the paint i have everything i need to finsh the jeep sitting in my amazon cart/ebay watch list and its killing me to not be able hit a button and have it all on its way. only a few more payslips and i can afford it.

Well, it's your money, but at the end of the day, I would say do what you makes you happy. You don't want to regret going with something you don't like just for the sake of a paycheck or two. That being said, we put flattener in my single stage paint and although I like the level of sheen, I would probably be perfectly fine with the gloss.ausjeep wrote: today i tested gloss coat vs matte coat. i know which one i like better but unfortuantely its not the cost effective one...

Sort out your few switch issues mate? Also I was thinking, how do you think the matte paint would hold up with the insane UV over here? I've not had dealings with matte automotive paint before, I'd hate to think after as little as 12 months the paint would go all 'powdery' and rub off on hands / clothes etc. End up with oily finger prints all over it.
