Greetings JP Jeepers from SW Florida!
I have haunted this site for the past two years all the while dreaming about a jp jeep of my own!
Finally found myself in a place where I could undertake this project and started the search for a rust free 6cyl 5speed YJ (quite a tall order for a older vehicle). Looked at quite a few, spent some time on my back and poked holes in some frames till I finally found this beauty, solid and amazingly rust free 1990 yj 4.2 5 speed with 131k with AC.
The tires were shot and way out of alignment so I jumped a few steps and hunted down a original set of rims and threw on a set of 31''s all terrain T/A's to make it pleasant to drive, had a buddy in a tire shop that gave me a great deal on them. Selling the old rims on CL.
Also ordered a motorcraft carb for the jeep as the stock carter carb has some annoying issues including a automatic choke that automatically DOSENT work hah! Makes cold starts a hassle sometimes.
Being a 1990 means I will have to get that roll bar switched out.
It's going to be a work in progress but I have the tools and do auto body and paint on the side as a hobby so I hopefully it will be sharp when finished!
A question I wanted to ask, what sort of reaction do you get from people when they see your JP jeep? Is it all positive or are there JP jeep haters out there haha, not that I really care some people just like to hate, but whats the typical reaction?
Thanks and can't wait to finish this!
Ben

Re: SW Florida JP Jeep IN progress!
Most people have a positive response towards it and some are amazed that i built it and didnt buy it. Some people think its a option or something. There are some people that have not seen the movie as weird as that is and some that shake their head at it when they pass by. I think i like the ones that are amazed that i built it. I get the feeling that it is so amazing to them and looks so good that they are saying to themselves "that must be a factory order or something"

Thanks for your answer regarding my question, most people I mention it too think it would look awesome, a couple didn't but it's what I think that really matters, if I just wanted a jeep I would have bought a TJ, I enjoyed a 97 I had a few years ago, it honestly was a better jeep but I bought this YJ for this purpose and its going to be great so there's no going back now! I will post pics and update.

I've never had anyone "hate" on my Jeep... The ones that kill me are the ones that have never seen the movie, with the "what is it?". Then when you tell them It's from Jurassic Park the movie they say, ohh "never seen it"... Really what rock are they living under? Luckily in those cases for me, since we have a movie car club here and I belong I whip out, that it is a replica, and we have a movie car club with 35+ movie cars, like... "General Lee, Smokey and the bandit, Ectomobile, etc.. blah blah blah" usually they at least nod then.

Re: SW Florida JP Jeep IN progress!
Good to know!
Haha, yeah I know I'm going to run into some people that have not seen the movie, was thinking of doing #18 as Jurassic world next year is supposedly going to have a shot of it in there, though I'm not going for the rusted look ha.
Will have to look up my area for a movie car club, that might be fun, plus I may get a card!
