Re: Ostrich Egg

I'm not interested in testing out its durability, but for an egg, it's pretty strong. The shell appears to be about 1.5 mm thick. I'm not afraid of it cracking in my hands, but I certainly wouldn't want to drop it - even on a carpeted floor. I saw a guy on YouTube make an ostrich egg omelette, and h...

Ostrich Egg

On my last visit to the Atlanta Zoo, I learned they sell ostrich eggshells in the gift shop. How could I say no? As it turns out, you can get these online pretty easily. I thought it might be a nice addition to my Papo dinosaur display on my TV hutch. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v127/drjones/7...

Re: JP12 Build - Middle Georgia

Well, the very next day, I heard my son moving the wheels around on the concrete driveway. I checked the truckbed liner coated rims, and they looked fine. I'm pretty confident I put a fairly even coat on the wheels, but I won't know until I put the tires on how well balanced they are. I reattacked m...

Re: JP12 Build - Middle Georgia

Dang, that was more work than I expected. I know sanding an masking the Jeep itself will be a lot of work, but I never expected painting the wheels to take so much effort. Anyway, my 4yo son helped me sand the hubcaps and mask off the wheels. The truckbed liner on the inside worked out well. I prime...

Re: JP12 Build - Middle Georgia

I finally got around to removing my spare tire and having the wheels bead blasted. It covered up most of the scratches in the junkyard wheels, but I can see that some gauges and pitting will still be visible after it's painted. I plan to coat the inside on the wheels with truck bed liner to prevent ...

Re: JP12 Build - Middle Georgia

I had a chance today to see the actual Jeep I'm trying to replicate. By the time I'm done, I hope it'll look more accurate than the real deal does today. For those of you who are curious, you can get a vehicle history report for the actual #12 Jeep here . Just type in the VIN (2J4FY49S2NJ527378). It...

Re: SOLD OUT: New run of Jeep driver hats

Thanks to everyone who made this a success. The last couple orders will go out today. As I said, this was a one time deal, but if I manage to find another company who can do as good or better, I'll be sure to let you all know.

And here's a fun picture of a light champagne metallic 1993 Jeep Wrangler Sahara Greenlight diecast toy sitting on the fender of my light champagne metallic 1993 Jeep Wrangler Sahara.

Re: JP12 Build - Middle Georgia

Thanks for the tip on the rubber seal - I was wondering how to do that. In the meantime, I've knocked out some of the usual Jeep stuff today, not JP specific. The front passengers seat belt didn't work when I bought the Jeep, so I ordered a replacement. I finally got that in today after a 6 week bac...

Re: JP12 Build - Middle Georgia

Isn't orange peel an effect of the clear coat? The Rustoleum in the square next to it used the same clear coat.
